PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that part of the 3100 block of New England Road in West Mifflin Borough will close starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020. The closure, which is expected to last until November 2020, is required for replacement of Pine Run Bridge No. 6. That work includes installation of scour protection, storm drains, and guide rail as well as roadway repairs.
The replacement of Pine Run Bridge No. 6 is emergency work, which is why public notice is less than typically given. During a recent inspection of the bridge, Public Works discovered it had deteriorated more than anticipated and required immediate work.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured using Lewis Run Road and Clairton Road (Route 885).
New England Road is currently closed about 1,200 feet southeast of Smith’s Lane as part of a separate project. That closure is expected to end later this week.
The $150,000 project will be done by Pugliano Construction Co., Inc., of Pittsburgh.
