Get ready to Celebrate America with fireworks, the Wiener 100 and a hot dog eating contest at Kennywood Park.

Kennywood’s traditional Independence Day weekend event begins June 29 and continues through July 4. Fireworks displays are held nightly.

Highlights include:

  • Hot Dog Eating Contest, Kennyville Stage: 2 p.m. June 29
  • The Stickers, Kennyville Stage: 7 p.m. June 30
  • Weiner 100 Dachshund Race, grassy area across from Parkside Café near the MerryGo-Round: 2 p.m. July 2
  • Fireworks: Nightly (June 29 to July 4) about 15 minutes before park closing; can be seen over the Racer

The park will offer free admission for active duty military, veterans and retired service members with presentation of a valid military ID. They can purchase up to six tickets for family or friends for $22, which is more than half off regular park admission.

“Our military makes incredible sacrifices, and we want to take the time to thank and honor them for what they do every day,” Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas said in a press release. “Celebrate America is the perfect time to honor our great nation and the men and women who fight for our freedom.”

The park is offering non-military guests discounted admission of up to $15 off regular admission prices when tickets are purchased at Kennywood’s website.
