At the December 2022 Connect Executive Meeting that West Mifflin patriciates in, Group Against Smog & Air Pollution (GASP) provided West Mifflin Borough with a Classic PurpleAir PA-II particulate sensor. This air monitor sensor is located outside of our Borough Building and was installed in late January. This air monitor sensor provides real-time readings of the quality of the air. Our air monitoring readings can be viewed at Real-Time Air Quality Map | PurpleAir website.
Air Quality Index (AQI) is used for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you.
The AQI focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air.
