Boards & Commissions
The borough has several Boards and Commissions that assist in the operations of the borough. The following is a listing of the different Boards and Commissions. Residents who may have an interest in serving on a particular Board should submit a resume to the office of the Borough Manager to be kept on file should a vacancy occur.

Civil Service Commission
This commission is responsible for administering the Civil Service Rules and regulations of the Borough that set the rules for the hiring, promotion, discipline and termination of Police officers of the Borough.

Community Development Board
The West Mifflin Community Development Board meets with the Zoning Board and Planning Commission.

Economic Development Board (EDB)
As part of an increased focus on supporting our local business community, West Mifflin Borough Council has created the Economic Development Board (EDB) to achieve various goals.

Employee Pension Committee
This committee advises on and monitors the revisions of the Employee’s Pension Plan to ensure that the pension plan is being administered within the guidelines established by Ordinance of Borough Council.

Planning Commission
Serves in an advisory capacity to Borough Council and deals with the zoning ordinances, land development, and comprehensive planning.

Police Pension Committee
This committee serves to advise on and monitor the provisions of the Police Pension Plan to ensure that the pension plan is being administered within the guidelines established by Ordinance of Borough Council.

Sanitary Sewer Municipal Authority
This entity owns the sewage treatment and sanitary sewer system within the Borough and therefore is responsible for the total operation, maintenance, and capital improvement of the two sewage treatment plants, thirteen pump stations, and over 95 miles of sanitary sewer lines that run throughout the borough.

Streets Run Watershed Association
An organization to which the Borough belongs formed to promote the restoration and enhancement of natural resources through flood protection and prevention along Streets Run Road and the area that comprises the Streets Run Watershed.

Zoning Hearing Board
Serves as an independent adjudicator in matters pertaining to the interpretation of the Borough Zoning Ordinance.
